About

geoffrey reidAbout me – I was was born in Savannah Georgia and currently live in Atlanta Georgia.  In between, I spent substantial time in Charleston South Carolina and Athens Georgia.  My professional career has seen me transition from working for one of the largest homebuilders in the country to one of the more recognized sustainability minded developers in North America.  I also worked for an environmental nonprofit as their Green Cities Program Manager.  Today I work for CityCraft Ventures helping communities across the country revitalize distressed parts of their cities.   Along the way, I started my own business and worked for a family owned construction company.  This journey has proven to me that there is a better way to (re)develop/restore/regenerate/revitalize our communities in a manner that is more sustainable and attentive to the triple bottom line.  Building upon these experiences, my thoughts on community development have evolved and led me to seek out opportunities that place me into the most optimal scenarios to help revitalize our cities and communities.

I first started blogging for The Navy Yard at Noisette and Noisette Community way back in 2010 under the “Sir Geoffrey” handle, hence the name of this blog.

This blog is meant to be somewhat therapeutic and informative in the same instance.  I’ll blog about sustainability, community building, economic development and some of my travels and experiences.  Sometimes I might post a couple of times a week, sometimes I might go a month or more without posting.  There’s no method to the madness here…just hoping that my thoughts can be shared with those that care about the related issues.  To connect with me or message me directly, please do so through LinkedIn.

Thanks and Enjoy!

  1. Sir Geoffrey,

I stumbled across your blog while researching bioswales. I’m a Southerner, who walked away from the medical industry when pursuing truth regarding how our environment causes many of the diseases we treat symptomatically. Seeking to help make a change, I started a business that fully cooperates with nature. I’d like to talk more with you about southern sustainability.

    Best,
    John Croom
